Why Choose Jupiter Medical Center for Thoracic surgery?

Jupiter Medical Center’s Thoracic Surgery Program - led by renowned surgeon, K. Adam Lee, MD - is comprised of medical experts dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of non-cardiac thoracic pathology. Our surgery team provides high-level diagnostic and treatment options, including PET/CT and robotic surgery, performed in our state-of-the-art surgical suite. Our dedicated thoracic team works to ensure coordination of care for patients who enjoy the benefit of complex therapies in a community hospital setting. For certain thoracic surgical procedures, Dr. Lee operates using the daVinci™ Surgical System, which is powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology.

This technology results in:

  • Less pain
  • Less risk of infection
  • Less scarring
  • A shorter hospital stay
  • Smaller incision
  • Quicker recovery

How it Works: Seamless Precision

Using the daVinci™ Surgical system, specially-trained surgeons operate while seated comfortably at a console viewing a 3D image of the surgical field. The surgeon’s fingers hold the master controls situated below the visual field display, with their hands and wrists naturally positioned relative to his or her eyes.
The daVinci™ seamlessly translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient. It’s a more precise, yet less invasive, way to do surgery.

Minimally-Invasive Surgeries

In addition to robotic surgery, our Thoracic Surgery program also offers video-assisted thorascopic surgery (VATS) for certain procedures. VATS uses a small video camera, which is placed into the patient’s chest through a sterile scope. Using VATS avoids muscle division and bone fractures which are more common in traditional thoracic surgery; it is a less painful surgical option and speeds recovery time.

K. Adam Lee, MD, Medical Director, Thoracic Surgery and Lung Center,  has performed hundreds of robotic assisted surgeries. He continues to lead the way, utilizing the latest and most advanced techniques in minimally-invasive robotic approaches to thoracic surgery, giving patients advanced options for treatment and care.
