More than 80 percent of lung cancers have a chance to be cured if detected at an early stage. CT Lung Screening gives you that chance.
If you’re a smoker or former smoker, early detection of lung cancer is the key to preventing more serious problems later. Low-dose CT Lung Screening, available at Jupiter Medical Center, gives you the ability to take that positive first step to safeguard your health.
Who is a Candidate for CT Lung screening?
Based on the NSLT guidelines recommendations are:
Heavy smokers (or former smokers) would have a smoking history of at least ten pack years, calculated by multiplying the average number of packs of cigarettes smoked per day by the number of years a person has smoked.
What is the cost of the screening and will it be covered by my insurance?
The charge for the screening is $209. As with many screenings, insurance companies do not cover this procedure. Therefore, we ask that payment be made at the time of the screening. The charge includes a consultation with the radiologist, the exam and radiologist’s interpretation, and a consultation with the thoracic surgeon (if needed). Should you have any positive findings on your exam and require follow up diagnostic scans, insurance should cover those scans.
